You can lock down database access so only specific IP addresses or MAC addresses are allowed to connect. Any connection from an unapproved address will be blocked.
Important: This feature only works on Influence DIRECT servers. It does not apply to databases hosted elsewhere

How to Set IP/MAC Restrictions
Log in as ADM (or another high‑priority user).
Go to Maintenance → System Maintenance → IP and MAC Address Security.
Add:
One or more allowed IP addresses or IP ranges, and/or
One or more MAC addresses.
Practical Tips
Start by adding your own machine; enter all MAC addresses for that device (Ethernet + Wi‑Fi). This prevents accidentally locking yourself out if you pick the wrong one. Then add other MAC Addresses / IP Addresses.
If you don’t know your IP or MAC address, a quick online search will show you how to find them. (Google is your friend.)
How It Works
| Logging in from an Approved IP Address | You will always be able to connect from this IP address, Irrespective of the Machine / MAC address you are using. * |
| Logging in using an Approved MAC Address | Using a machine or device with an approved MAC address will always allow you to connect, irrespective of the IP Address you are using. * |
| Logging in using a Non-Approved MAC Address | In this instance you will only be allowed to login if you are connecting from an approved IP address. |
| * NOTE - In all instances, our usual geographic restrictions apply, so you will only be able to connect from approved geographic locations (Generally, UK based IP addresses) - so when working abroad you should use a VPN to obtain a UK based IP. | |
What Happens When a Block Occurs
If someone tries to connect from an unapproved IP or MAC address, Influence will show a warning message listing the blocked IP and MAC address. You can then add those to the approved list if needed.
How to Report IP addresses (Login / Log Off)
From version 1.00.26.220 or later, they system LOGS the IP address which was used to connect to the database.
